Final and Grades
- The test
- The solutions
- Graded exams can be picked up from Debbie Ceder, Broida 5114.
- The distribution of points on the final (maximum is 100)
- The distribution of combined points, and corresponding letter grades,
for the course.
FAQ
- How are the combined points calculated?
The combined points were calculated, on a
0-100 scale, as 0.15*HomeworkScore + 0.35*MidtermScore + 0.50*FinalScore.
All the scores are on a 0-100 scale.
- What is the conversion between combined points and
letter grade?
See the Figure above. In cases where the performance on the final was
much better than the midterm, the letter grade was rounded up.
- What was my score on the final?
To find out, pick up your graded final from Debbie Ceder, Broida 5114.
- What was my score on the midterm?
You should have picked up your graded midterm weeks ago
from Debbie Ceder, Broida 5114. You can still do that.
- What was my score on the homeworks?
You should be able to get your score from the MasteringPhysics website.
- What was the mean score?
Look at the two Figures above. For the midterm, go
to the midterm page.
- Can you email me my scores?
No.
- You gave me a letter grade of X, but I worked
really hard in this course and also I really need
a grade of at least Y to get into graduate school/to make my parents
happy/whatever. Can you chenge my grade?
No.
- My score on the final was way better than on
the midterm. Why didn't you round up my letter grade?
This was a judgement call, please do not try to argue with my decision
because I will not change it.
