Minutes of the July 21, 2005 US ROD meeting

General

Claudio reports from Tracker week. Buffer solution, aka solution 7, adopted.
See presentation from Sandro, ppt or pdf.
This implies redesign of ICC cards. Production parts in October (!).
Yuri suggest that we think about continuing to make rods, then
swap ICC cards when they become available. Need to think about that.

We should have a workshop in August.

FNAL

Ryan shows some slides, ppt or pdf.
40 SS6 rods jumpered, 36 populated and tested with SRT.
One failure: laser. Try to swap AOH.

Yuri: 32 out of 34 tested at MRT.
2 modules with error 230. This should not have happened with jumpered rods.
On one rod: replaced module, error gone.
On the 2nd rod: looked at timing, seems OK.
Several rods have unusual noise, see for example attachment 9 of
this elog entry. UCSB reports similar problems.

Wim thinks error 68 is software.

FNAL will ship tomorrow. Probably ship 28 SS6 rods, plus rods to clean.

UCSB

Made 6 SS6 and 8 SS4 (jumpered solution 6)

SRT: 4 out of 14 with thermistor problems.
One with communication problem.
The one with communication problems has been sidassembled, will ship to CERN.

MRT:Standard scenario on SS6 once. Now running standard
scenario on SS4 the 2nd time.
Problem with DIM temperature server: hangs, need restart.
No errors 230 or 23.
On 2nd SS4 burn-in laser problem: failed to set laser. Power cycled, then OK.

UCSB wants spare fiber bundels, FNAL will ship.
Also, spare control cable, power cable. These were supposed to be made at FNAL.
Yuri will ask Lenny to have techs make these.
