The practice final is here. Here are the solutions. On problem 4, assume that the two negative charges must stay the same distance $x$ from the positive charge.
Because of the Math 5 finals, I'll be able in the Physics Study Room between 1:30pm and 4pm tomorrow, instead of from 3-5pm on Thursday, Dec. 13 in Broida 3302.
The final problem set will be due on at the final, Friday, Dec. 14 noon in 1640 Broida.
The practice midterm is here. Solutions.
The lecture meets MWF 11:00-11:50pm in Broida 1640, and problem sessions (both mandatory) meet Thursday 1:00-1:50pm in 2124 Girvetz and Friday 12:00-12:50pm in 1640 Broida.
Prof. Nelson's office hours will be Friday, 1-3pm in either the Physics Study Room, which is Broida 1019, or my office 5103 Broida, depending on the number of students. The TA, Jonathan Essen, has office hours in the Physics Study Room on Monday 3:00-4:30pm and Wednesday 1:00-2:30pm.
The text for the first half of the course will be University Physics, 11th Edition, by Young and Freedman. Here are the solutions to the odd numbered problems for the chapters we will cover.
The second half will use Electricity and Magnetism, 2nd Edition, by Purcell.
Problem sets will be assigned Mondays, and due the following Monday in class, except for the first week
The plans for grading are: Problem sets, 30%; Midterm (currently planned on Friday, Nov. 2), 30%; Final, 40%.
Students should also enroll in 3L or 13AH.
Volume and Surface Area of a Sphere in n dimensions.
