Minutes of the September 8 2005 US Rod TV meeting L. Spiegel Follow up on remaining action items from the Aug 23 Workshop ____________________________________________________________ Check resistivity of non-DCU thermistors after power cycling. On couple of rods, both UCSB and FNAL. DONE at FNAL, not yet at UCSB. Done at UCSB as well. Add results from 1st cold to XML file DONE, but no CVS update yet. CVS has been updated but not stable yet(?) Append settings.xml file to XML file. Potential problem, requires 1K extra lines, more than triples size. Guillaume has proposed that the settings file go on a server maintained by the DB group and that the XML files simply contain references to this file. Seems acceptable. Take a sample XML file and label every entry with an explanation (in English). Post on the web somewhere. NOT YET Still outstanding UCSB to figure out why scenario takes so long. Changed pressure delivered by chiller. Some improvement, now down to 6 hours, needs more work. Focus at UCSB was temporarily diverted to problems with the interlock PC - see below. Still 6 hours at UCSB compared with 2 at FNAL. (Yuri: Depends on number of rods; faster with more rods.) Add a CalProf run to SR scenario, make sure that it shows up in Ryan's macro (Ryan). DONE, but scenario takes 1 hr. Need speed up. Could reduce no. of events. Jim suggests decrease no. of latency points. Ryan to try this out. Ryan: no progress yet UCSB to try to lower noise. NOT YET No change. Yuri noted that the findings from last week - large radiated noise from Delphi supplies - were based on a faulty scope channel; the Delphi supplies are no longer in question. FNAL to build one DS_L ID=1 and 3 DS_L ID>2. UCSB to build one DS_L ID=2 and 3 DS_L ID>2 NOT YET Pipelining of L12 modules (all 4 types) continues at FNAL and UCSB will resume TOB production this week. Ryan inquired as to whether we should build L1 or L2 (or both) rods as their construction is different. Duccio responded that the choice is not important. Claudio to contact Duccio re: who does ICC card swap. DONE. This will be the topic of a meeting a CERN during the upcoming CMS week. Spare cables etc. UCSB nneds, Steve to give Lenny details. Lenny needs more info. Started to assemble 2 spare control cables at FNAL. Steve to implement agreed-upon grading scheme in XML file. NOT YET Still pending Prepare anecdotal list of problems NOT YET Jim and Yuri agreed to complete by "filtering the e-logs" by the next meeting. UCSB ____ JL: Guido, Frederick installed new FEC software runs on Scientific Linux. Getting seg faults, need to dual boot. I2C errors. Runs 10x faster on Yuri's machine?! guido.xml file setting wrong. YG: crashes after 20 hours. Guido sees 10x fewer errors. Yuri will try 6 rods today. Problem with control PC. Changed motherboards. Running new FEC software on SR. Waiting for SL install on multi-rod system. This is likely to be Jim's last rod meeting for a while. (He is headed to CERN.) FNAL ____ Introduced Greg Landsberg who is at FNAL on sabbatical (50/50 SiTracker/LPC). Greg will initially work with Ryan on the SRT. Ryan - double-sided rods option 6 jumpering. (LS: 4 DS rods prepared on Friday.) Yuri: CERN also sees I2C errors (#68) WITH optical FEC! Wim on vacation until CMS week. Installed but not yet tried version 30 (improves debugging capability). Yuri: What is the schedule for the optical FECS? Duccio: ask Sandro ...
