Minutes of the Feb 17, 2005 US ROD meeting
Follow up on pending action items from last week's meeting:
- UCSB: can we improve humidity to go to lower T in multirod?
Need new air dryer. Ordered
- Want to read all DCU out, put in root file.
Ryan modified SR macro to spit them out, still needs nominal
calibration constants.
- Check all rod monitoring
Last week:Ryan and Ricardo have a plan on how to measure various
thermistors and humidity sensors.
Will implement
necessary small hardware config, then make two copies
(one for FNAL, one for UCSB).
Update:Parts are on order, all stock items. They'll make 3 units,
should take of order one day to make.
- Standalone redundancy ring check
Decided to move to SR. Ryan will make it work.
- Defect analyzer for MR
Much progress from Patrick. Basically now working except for some
issue with channel flagging. See his
presentation.
- Jim to start talking to JT about scripts for ARC/ROD comparison
No news
- Yuri to talk to Wim, figure out what DAQ settings should be
Still pending
Stability Issues on MR
UCSB stable.
FNAL mostly stable. They suspect problems related with bad rods.
They moved suspicious rods from MR to SR, saw similar problems.
For some rod frames Ryan sees problems with basic functionality tests.
OK at power on, goes bad after about 5 minutes.
See for example this
elog entry.
New action item: UCSB to test a few bare rods too
Noise
UCSB: some indication that common mode noise is not so good in the cold.
Suggestion by Patrick: could be due to current draw of LV supplies
New action item: Jim will look at this in more detail:
- Is this a real and reproducible phenomenon
- Double check the LV supplies
.
FNAL: no news on MR.
Other items
-
Follow up from last week: Changing to direct FEC access not stable (UCSB)
- Updated interlock SW under test at FNAL
- Request for DS rods: need only 1-2 per site, no point in making more
with good silicon but suspect hybrids
- New Action item: Yuri to investigate getting parts for spare cables
from Duccio to FNAL to insure faster turnaround in case of problems
